Tours on Lake Titicaca / from Copacabana or La Paz

Lake Titicaca, at about 12,000 ft. above sea level is the highest navigable lake in the world.
The pleasant city of Copacabana is located at the shore of Lake Titicaca and offers many places of interest. The most important place to visit besides the famous sanctuary of Copacabana are the Island of the Sun, Isla del Sol, and the Island of the Moon, Isla de La Luna. The islands are located in the province Manco Kapac in the department La Paz.
Isla del Sol is 9,6 km wide and its surface is 14,3 km². It is the largest island in the lake. The original name is Isla Titicaca and therefore the lake has been named Lake Titicaca, which means "rock of the puma".
The island contains a relief with many terraces on which the Incas grew crops.
In the Inca era the island was a sanctuary with virgins devoted to the God of the Sun, that's where the islands name comes from.
Isla de La Luna, also named Isla Koati, is a small island with steep slopes, caused by wind. It is close to Isla del Sol. The surface is 1,051 km². Nowadays both islands are inhabited by indigenous Quechua and Aimara families that are dedicated to agriculture, cattle breeding and selling souvenirs to visitors.
Both sacred Inca islands can be visited by boat.
