Catamaran Cruise La Paz - La Paz, community programme, group tour
Around six in the morning you will go by bus from La Paz to Copacabana. You will enjoy the 3½ hours' bus ride passing the snow-capped mountains of the Cordillera Real and driving along the shore of Lake Titicaca.
In the lively city of Copacabana you will visit the Cathedral and the main square.
The Catamaran will be waiting for you to bring you in about 1 hr. to the North side of Isla del Sol, the cradle of the Inca Imperium.
A lunch buffet will be served on board.
On Isla del Sol you will visit the original village of Challapampa where a community programme will be presented. You will visit a typical house, the school, the chapel and the small museum. Special activities are a folkloric demonstration and sailing in the typical wooden fishing boats. The programme includes an easy hike over an Inca trail to the holy Inca temple La Chincana.
You will enjoy a romantic dinner by candlelight on the catamaran.
Next morning after breakfast (buffet) you will enjoy the majestic panorama over Lake Titicaca while you sail to the southern part of Isla del Sol.
Here you will visit the Pilkokaína Inca palace. Afterwards you will visit the Inti Wata Complex with its interesting Ekako Museum and centres where you receive information about traditional medicines and the construction of the original reed boats.
Your visit to the Inti Wata Complex includes a boat ride by original reed boat.
Then you will get to see the agriculture terraces of the Inca culture, visit the centre where souvenirs are made, and the viewpoint Manco Kapac from where you can see the biggest variety of camelids of the Andes.
You will receive a snack before you go to visit the Inca garden, the famous 500 Inca steps and the holy Inca fountain.
Then the catamaran brings you back to Copacabana. While sailing you will have your lunch buffet.
By bus you will be brought back to La Paz, where you will arrive around 20.00 hrs.
You can also visit Isla del Sol on a 2 days tour by catamaran from La Paz to Puno in Peru, or the other way around, from Puno to La Paz.
