Che Guevara Tour, 2 days
In the pleasant town of Vallegrande we will visit the Señor de Malta hospital, where Che's corpse was exposed to the world press and the people on a laundry basin after he was executed, and where the text of his last letter to his children is copied on a wall. We will also go to the place where Tania Bunke, the only female guerrilla fighter that was killed during the combats, was buried.
Further we will visit the excellent museum, which contains a huge collection of photos of El Che and also the graveyard where Che was buried for over 30 years.
We will have lunch in Vallegrande as well.
Between Vallegrande and La Higuera lies the authentic village of Pucará. On the way we use to see condors many times. In Pucará we will make a stop so you can walk through the small streets and take some photos.
Then we continue to La Higuera, the place where Che got executed. This happened in the school building of La Higuera, in which a small museum is established now.
On the Plaza in La Higuera you can admire a small old bust of Che and a big newer bust that has been placed there 30 years after his execution.
Since October 2007 there is also a new statue of Che there to been seen which has been unveiled under big attention.
We will have a romantic dinner at candle light and sleep in La Higuera.
The hostal has a very pleasant atmosphere. It has been restored with original materials and in the authentic style. You can have a hot shower here as well because it is on gas!
La Higuera is situated excellent; from there you have beautiful views over the surroundings. We will make a walk of 2 or 4 hours to the Quebrada del Churo where you will see the place where Che was hiding for the army.
Tip: The Che Guevara Tour is part of the Old Trade Road to or from Sucre!
