City Tour, private tour of 6 hrs.
The colonial white city has so many beautiful buildings and houses with antique wooden balconies that we will only take a closer look at the most important ones. We will walk through the old heart of town so we will pass many of them anyway.
After the pick-up from your hostal or hotel at 09,00 hrs. we will visit the Plaza 25 de Mayo. The main square of Sucre is surrounded by impressive buildings, such as the Town Hall, La Casa de la Libertad where in 1825 independency of Bolivia was declared, the Prefecture of the Department Chuquisaca and the Metropolitan Cathedral with Renaissance- and Barok details.
Than we continue walking to the ASUR museum of textiles. Here you can appreciate a variety of weavings of different Bolivian cultures. There will be some skilled people busy weaving, too, demonstrating various weaving techniques.
From the museum it is only a short distance to one of the special places of Sucre, the Recoleta, from where you will enjoy beautiful views over the city.
Now it will be lunch-time so we will walk back to the Plaza 25 de Mayo where you can have lunch (not included) in one of the many restaurants in town.
At 14,30 hrs. the tour will be continued. We will go by car to the Castle of La Glorieta, appr. 5 km out of town. La Glorieta is a mansion that was built in European style during the Republican time for an aristocratic family.
Instead of visiting La Glorieta, we can also visit the Cretaceous Park if you prefer, where you can see one of the largest collections of dinosaur footprints in the world.
Then we will return to the city and visit Sucre's general Cemetery where many important persons from Bolivia's past were burried. Students like to chose this quiet place to sit down studying here at the cemetry.
We will end the tour with a visit to the Simon Bolivar Park. In this quiet park you will recognize French influences; there is a replica of the Eiffel Tower to be seen and also of the Arch of Triumph.
You will be brought back to your hostal or hotel, where the tour ends around 17,30 hrs.
