Catamaran Cruise La Paz - Puno + Tiwanaku
community programme, group tour, 2 days

In the morning, you will first visit Tiwanaku, the oldest civilisation in the Americas. Their pre-Inca culture had a very broad knowledge of the universe and its relationship with human life. You will visit the archaeological site of Tiwanaku consisting of the Temple of Kalasasaya, the Underground Temple, the Pyramid of Akapana, the Sun Gate Intipunku and other buildings and the Archaeological Museum.

Then you will enjoy a 2-hour bus travel to Chua on which you will see snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera Real and drive along the southeast side of Lake Titicaca.

In Chua you will board the catamaran and sail to Wiñay Marka (the Eternal City) to visit a community on Pariti Island. On board, you will have lunch and enjoy the beautiful views over Lake Titicaca.
On Pariti you will see a typical local house that shows you the way of life of the Aymara people of the altiplano.
The villagers of the island found several objects of ancient pottery which also piqued the curiosity of archaeologists. Excavations revealed a wide variety of fine pottery belonging to the Tiwanakota culture, including figures of jungle animals such as tigers, monkeys, etc. This suggests that this place was a ceremonial centre to which people came from other places beyond the Andes. All these objects are currently on display in the museum you will visit.

After this unforgettable experience which also involves you supporting this isolated community, the catamaran brings you back to Chua. By bus you will travel to Copacabana where you will board the catamaran on which you will dine and spend the night in a cabin with a view and private bathroom.

The next morning, you will pay a short visit to the Basilica of the Virgin of Candelaria and the central Plaza in lively Copacabana.

The catamaran will be waiting for you in the small port of Copacabana to bring you in about 1 hour to Isla del Sol, the cradle of the Inca Imperium.

On Isla del Sol you will visit the famous Inca Garden, the Inca Staircase with 500 steps and the Fountain of Eternal Youth. The itinerary continues with a visit to the Inti Wata Cultural Complex. It includes the underground Ekako Museum, centres for traditional medicine and the construction of reed boats, the agricultural terraces of the Inca culture, a craft centre, the Intica refuge and viewpoint Manco Kapac with the largest variety of camelids of the Andes. A trip on an original reed boat to visit the Pilkokaina Inca palace is included.
Afterwards you return to the catamaran to enjoy a buffet lunch on board while sailing on the majestic Lake Titicaca to Copacabana.

Finally, you will be taken back to La Paz by bus.

You can also take this 2-day Catamaran Cruise in reverse, starting from Puno in Peru and ending in La Paz.
