Inca Trail and Maragua Crater
private tour, 2 days

By car you will be picked up from your hotel / hostal by your guide and taken to the chapel of Chataquila.

From the chapel on the rim of the Cordillera de los Frailes you walk down the Inca trail to Chaunaca while you enjoy impressive views all around.

At Chaunaca the car will pick you up and take you to the Ravelo River. At a quiet spot near a waterfall, you will have a lunch break.
You can swim here as well if you like.

Then you will head for the community of Maragua in the crater; you will have the choice to either hop in the car to get there or you can go on foot.

With your guide you settle yourself in one of the country houses that have a kitchen and a hot shower.
Dinner will be prepared before dark because there's no electricity and you will enjoy a romantic dinner at candlelight in the middle of the crater.

Next morning you can hike over the ridge of the Maragua Crater and then down to the well-preserved dinosaur tracks at Niñu Mayu. You will have to get up early to do so because the hike takes about four hours. Alternatively, you can do the going up part to the ridge by car and only walk the going down part.

Afterwards lunch will be prepared and then it's time to travel back to Sucre by car.

On the way you will pass the village of Quila Quila where you can make a stop at the colonial church which was completed in 1623.

Don't want to do any hiking but just want to enjoy the views from the car? It's still worth the trip!
Around the village there's a lot to see as well. Locals are happy to show you their weavings.

You can also visit the cemetery, the waterfalls and the Sacred Cave under the waterfall.
