Tarapaya Hot Springs, half day private tour
You will be picked-up from your hotel or hostal in Potosí at 9.00 hrs. to be brought to the Tarapaya Lake by private transport. The distance is about 25 km.
Tarapaya is an ancient bathing place that dates back to Inca times. It was the favourite place to hold for the last Inca, Huayna Capac, during his travels to the nearby Porco mine. This is a place where the Incas got their silver from.
Nowadays the big crater lake has the function of a public bathing area. From here you will have a marvellous view over the valley and the surrounding mountains.
Along the way to Tarapaya you will make a couple of stops at some places of interest. These are; the Devils Cave, the Puerta community, some geological formations and the Tarapaya community.
Then you will go to Tarapaya Lagoon and next to the thermal baths.
The temperature of the baths is on average 30°C, which makes it an excellent relaxing place all year round.
Bring your bathing suit and a towel because there’s the opportunity to swim here or to explore the surroundings with huge cacti and just enjoy the beautiful colours in the landscape. You will spend about two hours here.
Then you will be brought back to Potosí.
