The small city of Nazca is world famous for its Nazca Lines.
These lines can mainly be found on a desert plateau. On this area of over 500 km², the former inhabitants of the Nazca culture draw enormous designs through the desert by makings lines of various kilometres long that go in all directions. The origin of the lines is unknown, nobody knows for certain who made them or for what reason they were made. Down on earth, it seems that the lines don´t exist. They can only be seen in its total immensness from the air, flying over the desert. The lines shape several figures like: the spider, the monkey, the dog, the small lizard, the hummingbird, the condor and other figures.
You can observe the figures very well during this 35 minutes flight.

You can also choose for a 45 minutes flight over the Nazca Lines and the lesser known Palpa Lines.

The Palpa Lines have possibly been made 1.000 years earlier than the Nazca Lines.

Amongst other figures you can see the bird, the star, the Tumi (knife) and the fortress.

During this two to three hours tour, south of Nazca, you will go to the graveyard of Chauchilla. Here you will see remains of the antique civilization of around the year 1,000 A.D.; mummies in their original thumbs, but also ceramic fragments and textile.
The mummies are conserved well in spite of their old age, thanks to the severe dry climate in the Nazca desert. Many mummies still have rests of hair and even some of their skin.
After seeing the graveyard you will also visit a factory where gold is processed, that comes from the nearby mines and a factory where ceramic is manufactured by hand.
