Che Guevara Tour
private tour, full day
During the 1-day Che Guevara tour you travel from Samaipata in about 2 hours to the pleasant town of Vallegrande.
Vallegrande is still very traditional. It is known for its liqueurs made from all kinds of fruits that grow in the region because of the favourable climate. You will also find original souvenirs made from corn leaves and a kind of palm leaves.
In Vallegrande you will visit the excellent museum, which contains a huge collection of photos of El Che, and the graveyard where Che has been buried for over 30 years.
You will go to the Señor De Malta hospital where you can see the laundry basin, where Che's corpse was exposed to the world press and the people after he was executed, and where the text of his last letter to his children is copied on a wall.
You will also go to the spot where Tania Bunke, the only female guerrilla fighter who was killed during the combats, was buried.
Between those visits you will have lunch in Vallegrande.
The order of the sights to visit may vary due to opening hours.
The tour ends in Samaipata.
Tip: If you have more time you can opt for the 2- or 3-days Che Guevara tour, you continue and stay overnight in La Higuera, the place where Che Guevara was tracked down and executed.
If you also want to include Sucre in your itinerary; the Che Guevara Tour is part of the Old Trade Route to or from Sucre!
